Leo Ray, born in 1950 in Vilnius, Lithuania, is a painter, sculptor, and calligrapher. He graduated from Vilnius University and the Vilnius Academy of Arts, and since 1991 has been living and creating in Tel Aviv.
His artistic work spans painting, graphics, and small-scale sculpture. Ray’s creations are distinguished by a bold and colorful visual language that combines freedom, improvisation, and layered depth. Through his unique approach to color, he creates compositions that invite viewers into a renewed reality, opening a path for inner reflection.
Alongside his artistic career, Ray devoted many years to teaching. He headed the painting program at the BASIS School of Sculpture (2006–2014), taught painting and calligraphy at BASIS for Art and Culture (2015–2019), and also taught at CAN – New Artists’ Collegium. His works are sold in Israel and abroad and are included in private and public collections. They have been presented in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries worldwide.
